BTCB LAUNCH BRAND NEW WEBSITE AS TAEKWONDO PLAYERS GEAR UP FOR BATTLE IN BEIJING

The BTCB (British Taekwondo Control Board) have launched a dynamic new website www.btcb.org.uk, which allows members of the public to find a club near them and provides users with the latest inf or mation on elite and grass roots taekwondo.

The website will act as a new shop window f or the Olympic version of the sp or t which is undergoing a surge in popularity and interest as three British taekwondo athletes currently undergo their final preparations to compete in Beijing .

Visit or s can keep tabs on the three athletes out in Beijing f or the Games of the XXIX Olympiad. Doncaster’s Sarah Stevenson, D or chester’s Aaron Cook and Manchester ’s Michael Harvey are in the Chinese capital f or their events which start tom or row (20th August) with teenager Michael Harvey pitting his wits against the best athletes in the w or ld in the -58Kg. This is followed by Aaron Cook in the -80Kg categ or y on 22nd August and Sarah Stevenson, competing in her third Olympic Games, taking part in the women’s +67Kg event the following day.

In addition to the elite element of the sp or t www.btcb.org.uk will provide inf or mation f or people on how to get involved in the sp or t by offering details on taekwondo clubs around the country as well as inf or mation on how to become an affiliated member of the BTCB. The site also provides inf or mation on the rules and moves of the sp or t, videos of athletes in action and events happening around the country in a bid to introduce taekwondo to a whole new audience.

Adrian Tranter , Chair of the BTCB commented on its launch, "The BTCB are incredibly pleased to be launching the site at such an exciting time. The site will provide us with an excellent platf or m to communicate to members and the general public and allow them to communicate with us and each other. We expect the site over the coming years to be a hub of taekwondo inf or mation not just f or UK visit or s and members but visit or s from around the w or ld".

The 2008 BTCB National Championships

The British Taekwondo Control Board (BTCB) has the pleasure in
announcing the dates for this year's National Championships.

The Championships will take place on Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th
September 2008 at the Manchester Velodrome. 

To be eligible to take part each competitor must be a member of the
British Taekwondo Control Board (BTCB) or affiliated member group and
comply with the rules of the World Taekwondo Federation.

The closing date for entries is Wednesday 27th August 2008.
