Potential funding for athletes living in Hertfordshire

There is a potential funding stream for Taekwondo athletes living in Hertfordshire.  Athletes must be aged between 13-18 years old and have attended a training camp at the Great Britain National Academy or been part of the National Team for a competition. Please check eligibility before applying for the funding.  Deadline is Thursday 19th June 2008

The 2008 BTCB National Championships

The British Taekwondo Control Board (BTCB) has the pleasure in
announcing the dates for this year's National Championships.

The Championships will take place on Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th
September 2008 at the Manchester Velodrome. 

To be eligible to take part each competitor must be a member of the
British Taekwondo Control Board (BTCB) or affiliated member group and
comply with the rules of the World Taekwondo Federation.

The closing date for entries is Wednesday 27th August 2008.

The first athlete development coaches’ workshop took place on Sunday 13th July 2008. The day long workshop was seen as a unique opportunity to share information between the national academy and coaches around Britain.

The next workshop will be based on preparation for competition and will cover practical information to consider in all the disciplines for pre, during and post competition. Places are still available for this course on Sunday 5th October 2008. If you would like to attend please send the application form and cheque through to Joanna Wray as soon as possible.

7th Junior World Championships

The Turkish city of Izmir will this week host a talented young British squad in the 7th Taekwondo Junior World Championships.  The Great Britain team, including both Aaron Cook and Scott Atkinson, will continue their preparations in the run up to the event which takes place from the 6th- 11th May.  The competition is a showcase for the sports brightest young talents and the British team will start the event with two current Junior European Champions on the team (Cook and Atkinson) who are hoping to contribute to a successful team performance.
