BOA Announces Taekwondo Members of Team GB for Beijing 2008
The British Olympic Association (BOA) today selected Taekwondo members of Team GB for the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games.
The athletes are:
-58kg Michael Harvey
+67kg Sarah Stevenson
-80kg Aaron Cook
Commenting on their selection:
Sarah Stevenson said:
“I am looking fwd to my 3rd Olympics. I am hoping third time lucky. This time it is different, I am going to the Games with my eyes wide open and with no expectations or pressure on myself. I want to come home with no regrets, knowing I did the best I could no matter what.”
Aaron Cook said:
“I am really excited to have been selected to represent Team GB so soon after transferring to the senior squad. I am hoping to gain invaluable experience from Beijing that will stand me in good stead for London 2012.”
Michael Harvey said:
“I was delighted to hear that I have been selected for the Team. I will be aiming to make my family proud as their support has been fantastic over the past 13 years.”
Simon Clegg, Team GB 2008 Chef de Mission, said:
“I am pleased to welcome these athletes in to Team GB. We have here a real mixture of experience and youth, both which offer some exciting prospects in Beijing.
I am sure that they will be looking to build upon their recent successes especially Aaron who won Gold at the World Junior Championships recently and I wish them well in their final preparations for the Olympic Games.”
Gary Hall, Team GB Taekwondo Team Leader for the Beijing 2008 Olympics said:
“I am excited and optimistic about the performances this team will deliver. The British Taekwondo team continues to go from strength to strength in a fully professionally supported system. The Beijing 2008 Olympics will be exciting on many fronts but particularly on the performance front with this exceptionally talented team.”

Team GB is expected to consist of approximately 300 athletes and a further 200 officials.
Team GB could be competing in up to 21 sports.
The Beijing 2008 Olympic Games will take place from 8th to 24th August 2008.

The 2008 BTCB National Championships
The British Taekwondo Control Board (BTCB) has the pleasure in
announcing the dates for this year's National Championships.
The Championships will take place on Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th
September 2008 at the Manchester Velodrome.
To be eligible to take part each competitor must be a member of the
British Taekwondo Control Board (BTCB) or affiliated member group and
comply with the rules of the World Taekwondo Federation.
The closing date for entries is Wednesday 27th August 2008.
